I also did the same thing on my solaris system.
I do not have any of these problems. I used Cygnus's version 4 software
libraries to link against, what were your v4 libraries created from? Maybe
your version 4 libraries have problems. Or maybe you didn't specify your
--with-krb4= configure option correctly? Did your build output look OK when
it was doing the version 4 includes?
