What's with the kpasswd port # confusion?

From the 4.4BSD distribution:

kpasswd 761/tcp kpwd # Kerberos "passwd"

From Cygnus Kerberos -- I assume this is "normal":

passwd_server 752/udp # Kerberos passwd server

I haven't tried yet, but I assume this means that I can't use the ordinary
kpasswd client to change my password on a 4.4BSD KDC. This is really strange
and seems really pointless, to boot. What's going on here? And why?

On a similar note, does anyone know why the 4.4BSD Kerberos doesn't
include kpasswdd - and why my BSD/OS 1.1 source disk has a binary but no
source for it?

And why does Cygnus Kerberos have both:

userreg_server 753/udp # Kerberos userreg server

(what _is_ that?) and:

krbupdate 760/tcp kreg # Kerberos registration

(matches 4.4BSD)
