Hi, there,
I am trying to include the V4 compatibility in the Kerberos V5.B4.
Everything with V5 is working fine. But regarding the V4 compatibilty, I have
two basic questions:

1. how can you check that the V4 compatibility is working?
I partially succeeded in compiling V4 under the same environment
with the V5, i.e. SunOS 4.1.3. When I used the kinit (V4) to authenticate
principals against the V5 KDC server, I got an error as "kinit: Can't send
request (send_to_kdc)". I do not know what configration is needed for a
V4 client to use kinit. Is the /etc/krb.conf enough? I tried the kinit
came with Solaris 2.x ( which I suspect is V4 based Kerberos client),
I got the same error.

2. what is the correct procedure to include the V4 compatibilty when you
compile V5.B4?
As the simple README file specify, you need pass the
"--with-krb4=/KRB4_DIRECTORY option to configure. You also need to specify
/KRB4_DIRECTORY/include and /KRB4_DIRECTORY/lib. I am not sure about those
two directories. Are they from a running V4 installation? If so, That means
that I have to have a successfully compiled V4 installation. But it the
process of compiling V4, I had two problems: (1) memmove is undefined
under SunOS, So where is the good place to define it, (2) there is error
as "ld: -lhesiod: no such file or directory" -- what is hesiod, and its
relationship with kerberos.

I'd greatly appreciate any help you can give to me. I'd like to thank many
people in this group who have gave me a lot of help.

Thanks.
