NETWORK SYSTEMS ENGINEER
KENETECH Windpower, Inc., the nation's leading renewable energy company, has
an immediate opening for an experienced network systems engineer.
This position will help evaluate, design and implement network communication
systems, as well as network management for our existing and upcoming Windplant
Control Systems. These world-wide systems provide real-time data acquisition,
control and diagnostics of wind turbines and substation monitoring.
In addition, this candidate will use their software experience to help design
and implement applications on our Sun/Motif based Windplant Control System.
The successful candidate will posses the following skills and experience:
* Eight (8) years post-graduate industry experience
* Design, implementation and support of LAN/WANs comprised of UNIX
workstations, PCs, terminal servers, routers, statistical multiplexors
* Design and installation of twisted-pair and fiber optic communication
topologies, using TCP/IP, PPP, SLIP protocols
* Real-time data acquisition networks and problem solving with RS232
and RS485
* Experience in development and support of SNMP network management, MIBs
* Sun workstations running Solaris 2.x
* Proficiency in C programming and UNIX
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to work in a team environment
* Bachelor degree in Networks, Computer Science, Engineering or
other technical equivalent
Areas considered a strong plus include:
* Sun Net Manager or HP OpenView
* X-Windows/Motif, Informix database
* Experience with power utility communications
