AIX compiling error?

Kerberos experts,
I am trying to compile Kerberos IV on an AIX 3.5 system. It gets past the
imake stuff ok, but fails on the first cc compilation. The flags appear to
be wrong. I fear that it is using the wrong definition for the system. It
doesn't appear to be using AIX as its definition for its flags. So my
question is where can I define AIX as the definition to use for the flags?
Any thoughts or suggestions on this matter are much appreciated.
