DFS is absolutely NOT vapor ware.

We run a large chunk of our day to day work inside of DFS. My
personal workstation is a DFS client. For us, it solves many of
the performance and administrative hand-holding problems of NFS.

We run DFS in production capacity on a multi-vendor network.
DFS clients run here on OSF/1, Solaris, IBM AIX and HP-UX.
We are anticipating native cache manager deployment to NT and OS/2
when they become availablable.

I would seriously take time to educate yourself on where DCE
technology has gone since your last contact with it. I think
you will be quite surprised.
