The problem is simple -- xauth didn't really work until X11R5, and
most people using SCO have X11R3 (in the form of SCO Open Desktop.)
The xdm port is based on X11R5 -- I ported it (just the libraries) to
SCO in order to do that xdm port.
The easiest way to deal with this (as is done in the next CNS public
release) will be to delete the mention of "appl/x5dm" from
configure.in, delete the appl/x5dm Makefile (if you've got a tree
you're working in) and reconfigure.
