I've had a modicum of success; I now have a working libkrb.a and libdes.a, which means that I can building simple Kerberos clients (kinit and one of my own applications on Linux).

However, the installation as described in eBones does NOT work! 

I'm told that the Cygnus CNS Kerberos 4 on Linux.

Please can someone put this in the FAQ? I'll write up some notes for non-US people who can't (yet) get at the Cygnus kit.
