I thought I would summarize the responses I received to my query about who is actually
running Kerberos V5 in production. This data is different from, but complementary
to the information provided recently by *Hobbit*.

There seems to be four sites currently using Kerberos V5 in production : 1) MIT,
2) Rutgers, 3) LLNL, and 4) Sandia. I know from personal experience that LLNL is
using Kerberos only as a central authenticator and I believe this is the way
Sandia is using it. Of course, MIT is using it as it was intended. I don't know
what Rutgers is doing with it.

A group within Motorolla replied that they had just purchased a commercial Krb5 KDC and
were planning to bring it up in the near future.

Finally, I received a response from OSF pointing out that DCE uses Kerberos V5 for
its security services. However, when I emailed the people at OSF asking them which
sites were actually using DCE in production, no one responded. (However, someone
emailed me and said that Charles Schwab is doing so).

So other than National Labs and Universities, the number of sites using Kerberos V5
in production seems rather small.
