We are upgrading some of our machines from SunOS to Solaris. In the process,
we're converting our SunOS passwd program (that updated NIS and kerberos
passwords) to Solaris.
Here's the problem:
1. The passwd program works fine under SunOS
2. On one solaris machine (called "stel"), the kerberos passwd changes
properly.
3. On ALL other solaris machines in the department, the kerberos update is
failing.
Stel is a sun4d runnin Solaris (SunOS 5.3). We've tried it on another 5.3
machine, but it fails. We tried it on another sun4d (running 5.4) and it
failed. (The 5.3 machine was on the same subnet as stel).
All solaris machines are configured the same way.
The kerberos server in on a SunOS machine (named "cal").
4. The program is failing at the library call: krb5_get_in_tkt_with_password
The ticket file on stel is 423 bytes long. The tkt file on all other solaris
machines is only 37 bytes long and is invalid.
The kerberos libraries are from the Sandia SunOS distribution. Sandia has not
been responding to e-mail.
If you have any idea what the problem may be or where I should look, please let
me know. Respond to the net, or e-mail: nealk@cs.tamu.edu
Thanks,
-Neal
