Kerberos 5 outside North America - where do I start?

We're thinking about investigating a system that uses Kerberos
authentication (Mandarin), so I've been sent on a mission of discovery.
The trouble is I'm in New Zealand, I'm an utter newbie (I started reading
this group a couple of days ago), and the people who give the orders are in
a bit of a hurry, so I'm turning to you for help.

I have read the FAQ, and a couple of Kerberos papers, and if I was trying
to build Kerberos 4 on a BSD system I'm sure I'd be fine, but I need
Kerberos version 5 built under Solaris 2.3, and I can't export the DES
stuff.

So: What do you recommend I do? What parts of the source tree can I
download, if any? Does the main part of the tree (krb5.src.B4.tar.Z) also
contain DES, and as such is out of my reach?

Is there something like Bones, but for Kerberos 5?

If I can get a version 5 encryption-less skeleton, where is a good place to
look for a distributable encryption library to fill it out?

Since I'm asking a truly boogerhead query in fairly quiet newsgroup,
replies by e-mail may be more appropriate. I'll summarise later.

Thanks in advance...
