I know the answers to a few of these questions (I believe :-) )

it should work fine over slip or ppp dialin.  If you are dialing in as just
a terminal, then kerberos would be supported by you dial in host.

True.

It is certainly available for DOS (ftp pc/tcp at least), OS/2 (ftp pc/tcp at
least), AIX and MVs.  No knowledge directly of VM although the MIT
documentation indicates it is.

Note - as kerberos 5 in the form of DCE becomes more widely available, it
would seem reasonable to assume all platforms.

It would not seem prudent to me to bet on a proprietary technology for
requirments in distributed security which in virtually all environments will
have to be highly standards based and heterogeneous.
