Everyone can ignore my previous posting pertaining to problems
with setting up a master and slave. I still don't have it working,
but I figured out what was causing my TGT error. I did not have
the /etc/srvtab file set up correctly which resulted in bad
encyption/decryption of the cipher text. I do not understand why
the srvtab needed a principal of rcmd.kerberos, but it did. I am
going to quickly outline what I am trying to do and if anyone
could help me it would greatly be appreciated!
I am using Kerberos Version 4 path Level 10. We are using Kerberos
with a Xyplex terminal server running a Kerberos client to authenticate
remote connections to our network. I have two systems loaded with
the Kerberos software. The master server (called granite) has been
working for some time and is able to authenticate the remote users
correctly. I decided to add a slave server (called granites) last
week. I am failing badly!! Would someone please explain the configuration
required to get this working (krb.conf, krb.realms, principals required
in database and service table, etc.). I get the following error using
the kprop program:
Protocol error (get_intkt)
A trace of the code indicates that I am calling the krb_mk_req with the
following:
cs->name = granites
cs->instance = granites
cs->realm = GRANITE.INDSTATE.EDU
The KDC log has the following message:
APPL request rcmd.kerberos@GRANITE.INDSTATE.EDU on <IP ADDRESS> for
rcmd.granites
If anyone knows what all this means I am all ears. Thanks in advance!!
