I would have been surprised if that works; you can only choose from a limited set of options and nettle is not included I think.
For compatibility with Shishi you don't need it, the crypto-algorithms are compatible across implementations.
It may be a bit farfetched what you want, but that is mostly due to Shishi -- if I recall correctly, it cannot even hand out service tickets. It would be lovely to have a fullblown third implementation in open source, but Shishi isn't completely usable yet, AFAIK.
