slave server - kpropd dies

Hello,
I have kerberos v4 running on two sun machines. Now I am trying to
get them to operate as master-slave. My understanding is that on the slave
kpropd runs all the time. It listens for updates from the kprop on the
master server.
The problem is that when I run '/usr/etc/kpropd
/kerberos/slave_data_file &' this process runs for approximately 5 minutes
then dies. What am I missing?
Any suggestions appreciated.
