"Authentication Manager" (AuthMan) version 1.0.8 is now available.

AuthMan implements Kerberos v4 for Apple's Macintosh.

To obtain your copy, ftp anonymously into monet.ccs.itd.umich.edu
and look inside of /pub for the file AuthMan-1.0.8.sit.hqx
Full source is provided.

New features in version 1.0.8 include:

o AuthMan (optionally) inserts an authentication menu in System 7's
menu bar next to balloon help. It provides a visual indication
of authentication status by changing the menu icon depending on
whether the user is authenticated or not. The menu contains
options to authenticate, change passwords, and expire tickets.

o AuthMan can be configured to expire all tickets after a period of
inactivity (useful for public labs, insecure environments, etc.)

o AuthMan supports password changing with MIT Kerberos servers.
(Consult the README files re: AFS Kerberos password changing.)

o AuthMan's DES code has been revamped to provide faster operation
for applications which implement data stream encryption
(ex: mods to NCSA Telnet 2.6 to use AuthMan are being completed)

o AuthMan's DA (version 1.0.1) (equivalent to MIT's 'klist' or
AFS's 'tokens') has a few bug fixes and will now update its
ticket list automatically as tickets are added/expired if open.

o more sample applications for programmers are included

o a few miscellaneous bugs were fixed

PLEASE read the README file that comes with AuthMan.

DES software may not be exported without a license from the US government.
Do not ftp any AuthMan-related software if you are outside of the
US/Canada.

(Sorry for the previous empty post... server confusion.)
