Hm. They have something called the portmapper...

Likely the portmapper is stepping on the kerberos port.
I had the same problem and after I cleaned out some of the
extra crud to lower the number of services registering
with the portmapper kerberos began to work.

There probably needs to be a little hack to have kerberos
register itself with the portmapper so that its guaranteed
to get 750.
