I would recommend the writeup in Bruce Schneier's new book "Applied Cryptography
Protocols, Algorithms, and Source Code in C", Wiley 1994 ISBN 0-471-59756-2.
Schneier has a very accessible writing style. There is about an 8 page
discussion of Kerberos in section 17.4. I actually found out about this book
from an earlier posting to this mailing list.
