does anyone have some firm numbers about how fast the krb4/5 des
implementation cranks in cbc mode? i'm looking for bits/sec, per mip,
so i want both the i/o throughput and the testbed's processor speed.

also, does anyone know with certainty whether krb5's encryption is as
fast as krb4's? though the des library is basically the same, krb5 puts
more subroutine calls between the api and the des layer, so again, i'm
interested in measurements here, not in estimates of how it oughta be.

if anyone has performance numbers for faster freeware des implementations,
i'm interested in those figures, too.
