Using NIS w/ patchlevel 10 of Kerberos V4 on SGI: How??

I have built the latest V4 on an SGI running IRIX 4.0.5F and
have yet to be able to get NIS hostname / username lookup working.
I have used (in all permutations) -DBSD42 and -lsun (which
supposedly has the gethostbyname version that uses NIS in it) to
no avail. Could someone suggest what may be wrong? I define the -lsun
in the config.Imakefile in the GLOBAL_CDEFS line. In fact (if it would help)
my latest attempt used:

GLOBAL_CDEFS= -cckr -DKERBEROS -DPOSIX -DNOTTYENT -DNOSTBLKSIZE -DNOVFORK
-DNOUTHOST -DNO_GETUSERSHELL $(SITEDEFS) $(OSDEFS) -DBSD42 -lsun

I am at a loss. The code works fine (at least I can do kinit, klist, kdestroy
and rlogin) when I list myself in /etc/passwd and the hosts for the kerberos
database and the target for rlogin in /etc/hosts.

Thanks for any help.

Jim
