I was able to do the first step (cd /u1/krb5-1.3/src  followed by
./configure - I use gcc-3.4.2-sol8-sparc... ) successfully. But on
"make" (I use make-3.80-sol8-sparc...) I get following messages:

was /usr/ccs/bin in yoru path when you ran configure ?  If not,
then the makefile will still not find 'ar'.
