Problem solved! DEC Athena came good and supplied kadmind as a binary.
It works fine with the standard Ultrix 4.2 kerberos daemon and the
terminal server.
Responses from 2 other sections of DEC were most helpful, as was that
from Oxford university.
The eBones version of bones is NOT at this stage completely conformant
with MIT V4 code. The Author hopes to look into this asap.
Many thanks to everybody who responded, apologies to all code-owners
and developers feeling maligned by my mis-applied logic.
Well done DEC!
