Relationship between MIT's Kerberos 4 and the Kerberos in AFS 3

Question: do applications that are kerberized using the Kerberos 4 library
as distributed from MIT, work with the version of Kerberos that is provided
by Transarc as part of AFS 3? That is, are regular kerberized applications
able to get tickets, etc, with the AFS authentication server?

Can regular kerberized applications make use of the AFS client kerberos support
code? Or do those kerberized applications need to be relinked with an AFS
version of the kerberos library? Does Transarc provide such a library?
