I think that we do need to think about the appdefaults vs libdefaults
issue.

I believe that our final decision on how that works should be based on
user experience not code paths.


Besides that, I think such support would be a great idea.  

If we do use appdefaults, we'd need a format that did not involve
iterating through all the keys in a relation.
