What objectClasses do you have defined for the user accounts? Make sure
that you have shadowAccount in there. Here's what I have:
objectClass=person
objectClass=organizationalPerson
objectClass=inetOrgPerson
objectClass=posixAccount
objectClass=shadowAccount
objectClass=top
objectClass=krb5Principal
