Hello,
I'm a student in a french telecom engineering school and I'm specializing
in computer networks. As final-year project, I chose to study Kerberos and the
"feasibility" of this service on our LAN. If the anwer is affirmative (and I think
so), I also must install Kerberos on our system, a SUN 4/260 server and fast 20
SPARCstations running SunOS 4.1.1.
Before the installation, I have a few questions :
- are there other Sun sites "equipped" with Kerberos, and how does it work
on their sites?
- where can I find the most recent source codes ? on aeneas.mit.edu,
directory /pub/kerberos5/dist/910607 ? (I already got a lot of documents from
inria.inria.fr and the aeneas /doc.split directory.)
- to install Kerberos, should I follow the readme.k5 document, and then
the Installation and Operation Notes ? Are we obliged to isolate a station from
the network and have the root access on this station ? Is the ISODE environment necessary
to install the service ?
- does Kerberos also work when an user of a non-Kerberos site try to
rlogin or telnet to our system : for instance if two users on different sites (one
Kerberized and the other not) have the same username, does Kerberos ask for a password
when the outside-user try to rlogin on the Kerberized site ?
Thanks very much in advance.
