We have just obtained the Kerberos V5 distribution. We have NO previous
experience with Kerberos and have not brought up V4. Has anybody else
brought up V5 without V4 around? A number of utilities, e.g. kpasswd,
kadm_server, etc., are not in the V5 distribution. There are command
line differences in things like kinit. Telnet login changes seem
to require V4, etc. Some of us have had the tutorial that kohl, et. al.
do but it is really geared towards V4 not V5.

We do have V5 compiled, except for telnet login, and a KDC installed
BUT there are funny things with the instance/principal information
and the simple and sample servers won't work with it - they get a
number of different error messages. Obviously we are doing something
wrong but have no idea what.

My questions are:

Has anybody else brought up V5 without having V4 there first?
Can we share information?

Should we bring up V4 too, just so its there? (We have no plans to use
V4)

We need a great deal more documentation on V5, is there some available?

Who can we talk to about solving our problems?

I really don't want to ask questions on this list for things members
would consider simple.
Not knowing what is considered "simple" with V5 makes it difficult to
guess whether the questions should be asked here or not.

Thanks for your indulgence.
