Jon Rosenberg and I came up with a comparable idea for remote-service
authentication, but it was keyed on the presence of a guest ID (or group
of guest IDs) on a workstation. Login would see the user@realm
specification and would know to use one of the group of guest IDs for
local authentication. There could probably be a separate guest ID for
each terminal, or some such.
