I read over the draft RFC for Kerberos version 5 and, not suprisingly,
didn't find any reference to ticket caches.
I had heard at a talk about AFS 4.0 that Kerberos version 5 will have
a procedural specification for ticket caches which would accomodate,
say, in-kernel implementations. I would be interested in receiving
a copy of such a spec.
After having hacked version 4 MIT-style ticket caches into AFS 3.x
Kerberos code, I would be interested in seeing if version 5 fixes what
I see as the most important problems with the version 4 ticket cache
implementation: the fact that it does not allow replacement of a
credential (reauthentication) and does not deal at all well with
expiration of credentials.
