Interoperability

Has anyone out there who has worked with Kerberos ever consider the
interoperability issue?

I have seen/heard 5 different flavors of Kerberos, ported independently
by 5 different vendors from the MIT's version. None of which addresses the
interop issue. Last week in the Interop, more vendors claimed that they had
the Kerberos protocols built into their products.

Granted the underlying Kerberos protocol is governed by the V4 or V5 spec,
the kerberization of application like rcp, rlogin etc is not. That means
that I used to be able to rcp a file from a remote machine/OS from other
vendors, but after rcp is kerberized (in all machines but by different
vendors), interoperability will not be garanteed anymore.

Does anyone share the same concern?

Abraham
