Andy,
Netscape provides the User Profile feature to handle multiple
identities. Your copy of netscape is operating with a single default
profile. To get a list of alternative profiles when you start Netscape,
you can use Profile Manager to create new profiles; profiles are really a
named set of preferences files, including the certificates and password
files, stored in profile-specific folders on your machine. This is
netscape's way of being "multiuser" when the operating system isn't.
Another approach is to use the single default profile but to obtain
certificates under multiple userids. The Security button, Navigator link
in netscape allows you to set what Certificate to present to servers.
Normally people tell netscape to always pick their own. You could set it
to Ask Every Time, but you'll be deluged with dialog boxes. So you could
also just use this dialog box to change the "identity of the user" as far
as Netscape is concerned by choosing the certificates of the other person.
I hope that helps. User Profiles will require restarting Netscape each
time you change identities. Security-->Navigator doesn't, but is more
prone to confusing yourself as to what identity you are at the moment.
