Hello,

I recently intalled a new version of the LISTSERV web page which was developed
by Janet Littell and Kristine Nyzio. The new page conforms to the IS web
page style. I recently received an inquiry from an outside party about one
of our lists (which I forwarded to you) and it occurred to me that we might
want to add some language to the page which covers people who are having
problems with lists. Typical problems include the following:

   1. Help, I can't subscribe to this list.
   2. Help, I can't unsubscribe from this list.
   3. Help, I'm getting email from some userid (which turns out to be a list).

The url for the LISTSERV page is

   http://mitvma.mit.edu/system/listserv.html

Notice that the "Using LISTSERV" section instructs people to send mail to
listserv@mitvma.mit.edu in order to create a list. Is this still appropriate?
Should people having problems use the same address, or should they send email
to postmast@mitvma.mit.edu instead?

I would like to add something like the following sentence to the "Using
LISTSERV" section:

If you are experiencing difficulty with listserve (i.e. subscribing to a list,
removing yourself from a list, etc.) please call the help desk at x3-1102 or
send email to postmast@mitvma.mit.edu. Does this make sense? The "Contact
Points in IS" page specifies mithelp@mit.edu for VM questions. Should that
email address be used instead?

What do you think?

Rocklyn
