Hi Ron,
Your message pretty much states our opinion; the IS site is organized to be
customer focused as in "help" and "products" rather than process centric.
But somewhere we have to provide links to the processes, because someone
may be searching for a link that they know of as the process home page,
e.g. the "Integration home page." The "About IS" page is meant to provide
this organizational sort of entry. We'll also link to documents that
explain our structure, as those documents begin to exist. The "About IS"
link is near the bottom of the page, stressing the "function" type of
links up above.
There is another function of the "About IS" page. Some teams provide
services that aren't immediately visible or known to the outside audience.
Since the top page links are meant to be customer focused, the teams list
on "About IS" provides a place for the team pages that the customers may
not know about.
This of course raises another issue. How and who will maintain the teams
pages? This is up for discussion. We are currently pointing to existing
content with the intention of surfacing issues that need resolving.
