Howdy all,
On Saturday, I will shut down the Training, Product, Stock Answer, User Group, etc., databases, convert them to FileMaker 5 format, then restart them under FMPro 5. I'm expecting to do this work between 12-6pm (possibly using all that time...)
This means several things:
- the databases will be inaccessible for a good part of Saturday.
- the web service will be inaccessible while the databases are down.
- after Saturday, you will need FileMaker 5 to access the databases directly.
I have been in contact with most groups of users (IS Training/Pubs, PCT, FSS, Facilities, OCSPA) and helped users install FMPro 5 where needed, but I have only heard back from one or two Stock Answer users (perhaps all there are?). Whichever dbs you use, let me know if you still don't have FileMaker 5 (and you need it...) and I will come and install it for you!
(FYI, I do not plan to do anything about moving Stock Answers and the other dbs to a common single server at this time: the two database sets will remain separate for now -- but they WILL both be converted to FMPro 5. Possible merging on a common platform is still for future discussion...)
As noted earlier, this conversion to FMPro 5 will allow me to make long-needed improvements to the system.
If you have any concerns, contact me.
Thanks,
--Kevin
