Yes, at long last, here it is. To run it, just:
add library
librarydemo
This must be run from an Athena workstation; we don't yet have a
tty-based interface for it. You'll get a window with cascading menus,
just like Dash. Click any mouse button over the name of an item you'd
like to execute, and it will start up. (Note that only those items
with an asterisk to the left of their names currently execute
something.) Any menu item which has an arrow to its right is the
label for another menu; just click on the arrow to bring up the lower
menu. Click any mouse button on any "?" to the right of any menu item
to see the help for that item.
Please note that the services are all in an experimental state, and
that there are many holes in the menu tree. I'll talk specifically
about each menu item below.
----------------------------description of menu items-----------------------
News and Information:
Library News -- currently points to the TechInfo text about
CD Barton, in the /mit/mitlibs/info directory.
Library Information -- currently this points to the TechInfo
text about the libraries' term hours and
locations.
Libray Help:
Look at Answers Database -- not yet available;
eventually this will point to the
"stock answers" from OWL.
How to Search...
Pathfinders, etc. -- Not yet available.
Barton:
Barton -- connects the the library.mit.edu Barton interface.
New Books List -- Not yet available
Library Forms:
(All these currently don't start any application, pending the
decision on just how to do this.)
Databases:
(Currently contains placeholders for Medline and Table of
Contents, neither of which are yet net-accessible from Athena.)
Other Libraries:
Boston Library Consortium Serials List;
Harvard (HOLLIS);
Berkeley (Melvyl);
Boston University;
-- All these connect directly to the named
catalogs. These are here to mimic the behavior
of the "setup library" application.
Library Catalogs -- This runs a script that connects
the user to a huge list of library card catalogs
and campus information systems.
