Here's something that came into software suggestions that you might
want to consider if you aren't already.

Subject: how about being able to access the library's circ system?

It would be really helpful if students could be able to access the library
circulation system through athena. Keeping track of which books they have
checked out and when they are due would be simpler, and it might even be
possible to renew the books by just logging in. And the library has a big
problem with incorrect addresses and phone numbers on the patron records.
If students were able to update these themselves the info would be more
accurate.

I work in libraries and I know that their technology is crude, but if you
managed to access Barton it should be almost as easy to access Circulation.
Access would be limited to only looking at their own library file, of
course, which is only one facet of the system. I don't know what would
have to be done to limit access.

I am the student advisor to the library committee. If you would be
interested in implementing this kind of software, I can inquire within
the libraries to see if there is a reciprocal interest.

Thanks,

David Towner
