Problem:
When adding some queues to the spooler, it chokes and
complains about unknown protocols.
Diagnosis:
The file WPRBRWSE.DAT contains information about all the queues, for
all the printers on athena.
A typical line looks like:
Queue12=SUM.Q,sum,athena,KWLPR2.DLL, in 20B-219
Lines that define queues that cause problems look like:
Queue33=JONATHAN.Q,jonathan,athena, in Bexley
There is a missing element in the latter lines, that apparently
defines the protocal that the LPR spooler is supposed to speak to
with. Instead it reads the next item, the location of the printer as
if it were the protocal and . . well, chokes.
Solution:
Add KWLPR2.DLL to the lines in question at the correct place. A copy
of the corrected file is appended to this email for your enjoyment.
