Hi Everyone,

It seems that the installer for the full version of Hostexplorer doesn't do
the right thing for multiple user machines. As it was explained to me, and
I may be wrong, when the the installer is run by an Administrator then it
is supposed to install for All Users, and when it is run by a
non-adminstrator it is only supposed to install for that user.

What I have found is that it doesn't seem to work. I installed Host
Explorer on my machine (windows NT 4.0, SP3) as the Administrator. The
icons HostExplorer Profiles and HostExplorer were both put on all users'
desktop, but neither work. The HostExplorer Profiles is blank and the
HostExplorer shortcut doesn't know what program to use.

The shortcut simply seems to be in the wrong order because when I move
"explorer" to the beginning of the shortcut's target from the end, it works.

The Profiles required editting the registry with the following steps:
In regedt32, in HKLM select HKEY_USERS, then go to the Registry Menu and
select Load Hive. Find the ntuser.dat for the account with which
HostExplorer was installed. Select ntuser.dat and click Open. Under that
newly loaded hive, open Software and select Hummingbird. Use the Registry
Menu to save the key to some easily accessible location, e.g. I used the
desktop. Now open the Default User, i.e. .DEFAULT, open software and use
the Edit menu to Add Key. Call the key Hummingbird and don't worry about
the Class. Now select that key, use the Registry menu to Restore the key
from the key file you saved earlier in the easily accesible location.
Select the new hive you loaded and use the Registry menu to Unload Hive.

Am I correct in the intended behavior and is this on the list of things to
be corrected in the next version of the installer?

Thanks,
Jonathan
