I just started having that problem yesterday and would love a fix.

I was trying to re-install mink/Eudora on a Windows 98 machine because when
I type the correct password I get a error message saying "generic error".
Does anyone know what might be causing this?

I get that message after a bogus "your network isn't set up correctly"
message that all Windows 98 machines seem to give. If you ignore it, you
usually get your mail. I would be nice if I could get rid of that message,
too.
