It turns out that the installer was not really installing a "fat" version
of NCSA Telnet, it was only installing a PowerPC version. Since both the
machines above were 68k Macintoshes, the Telnet application that was
installed didn't work.
This has been fixed. Simply rerun the installer (if you still have it, if
not, download a new copy) and do another Easy Install. A new, truly "fat",
copy of NCSA Telnet will be installed.
