Hi folks,
Pbh asked that the 9/3 version of
http://web/installers/win.combined/Eudora/Welty.exe installer be checked,
esp. with regard to the Mac vs PC settings defaults. Here are my findings --
1.) "Uninstall" now appears in the Eudora program group or startup menu.
[pgalt requested]
2.) SMTP is indeed set to outgoing.mit.edu [pgalt wanted verification]
3.) No PDF version of the manual is installed automatically. Not a
show-stopper: a windows help file is installed, though it is not the
full-blown manual. Is there a reason we can't put the Mac Manual PDF
behind a 18.whatever restricted web or ftp server?
The following are not show-stoppers but ought to be fixed at the same time
that text about ESANDI is added --
4.) The text in the installer Readme has references to HostExplorer all
through it (after cut-and-pasting, no doubt). Specifically,
a.) this text about the installer log file is inaccurate. Change
"HostEx32" to "Eudora".
* Troubleshooting *
A log of what this installer actually does to your
computer will be saved as WELTY.LOG in the main
directory Host Explorer is installed in. This will usually be
C:\HostEx32 or C:\HostEx16, depending on which
binaries you are installing.
b.) Other text follows in the troubleshooting section that refers to Ktel
throughout.
"Test Mode
If you start this installer as "ktel.exe /T" the installer will be tested.
Although the installation will look the same, no changes to
[... much text deleted ...]
The /Z command line option acts exactly like to /X option except
Windows will be exited after the files are extracted. This can be
useful for BBS operators that want to perform virus scanning
on all of the files in the Wise executable."
