The following installers will be placed in their respective final release
areas on net-dist.mit.edu tonight after 5pm. At that time, any older
installers for that product will have the out-of-date notifications
turned on.
Eudora 3.02 (installer revision 4.2)
Kerberos (installer revision 2)
NCSA Telnet 2.7b4 (installer revision 1)
[Note that Telnet was actually placed on net-dist before this mail in
order to remove a version that was installing an old version of KClient.]
There are no changes to the versions of the products installed by these
installers. All changes are in the installers themselves. The main
features common to all are:
* New ftp code makes one connection for the duration of the installation.
Older ftp code attempted a ftp connection for every file. This should
greatly improve mid-installation reliability and improve speed.
* Installer now does not try to send quit events to Express Modem and HP
Backgrounder. This will cure the problem that Express Modem users were
having using the ftp installers.
* Includes improved KClient installation decisions for dealing with
really old KClient extensions.
* Built with latest version of Installer VISE (4.6.1)
Eudora specific fixes include:
* Fixed bug in the Eudora Installer Assistant that caused a crash under
Mac OS 8.
* Improved the installation decisions for system files under Mac OS 8.
