Good Morning,

I am the program manager for computer security at a Navy activity with 2K+
users, multiple systems/nets, and so on. I am tasked to interpret rules and
regs, advise technical types regarding compliance with same, build local
INFOSEC policies, manage a security training program, perform audits and
similar oversight functions, that sort of thing. Whatever technical skills I
once had may have grown somewhat dull from lack of use, but I can still glean
enough info from lists such as ids and firewalls to keep abreast of current
issues, and I can still tell a chip from a CRT (on a good day). I'm convinced
that lists such as this are the very best place for bureaucrat types to stay
smart - at least smart enough to give advice that technical types can
(hopefully) support.
