Yesterday evening this machine froze up while I was telnet'd to it. This
evening it just happened again. The machine not only drops off the
network (the telnet connection gets lost in space, not properly closed,
and the machine cannot be pinged) but xlogin does not respond to
keystrokes on the console and no longer travels the screen. The machine
appears to restart normally upon reboot (both yesterday and today).
The motherboard was replaced only earlier this summer by DEC field
service, I believe. I am the primarily user of this private machine and
would appreciate updates on any repair or diagnostic efforts.
I might note that yesterday GEVALT.MIT.EDU also froze up and had to be
rebooted, with the same symptoms. Could be coincidental, though.
