This workstation is back up and running; the problem was that root's shell
had been locally changed to a file that didn't exist, preventing root from
logging in. Unfortunately, our standard public workstation cleanup doesn't
fix this problem. I fixed the problem by hand, and checked out the rest of
the software- all should be OK now.
