Dear Hotline,
I'm sending you this message from a workstation adjacent to
the one I was working on. In the midst of completing
an e-mail message using the xmh, the whole terminal went
black, and then a screen saying
IBM AIX (Athena Release 7.3)
Non-root logins are not supported at this time
Console login: _
I logged in with my userid and password, but it seemed I was
on a skeleton system (everything was in reverse video), and
it didn't recognize `xmh'.
I did find that when I hit CONTROL-D, my old screens with
the xmh and my letter did appear, but then the screen went
black again and the `Console login' prompt appeared again.
I can return momentarily to my old screens even from the console
window with CONTROL-D, but after a second, again, everything goes
to black and I return to the `Console login:' prompt.
The affected machine is
18.74.0.21 : M4-035-2
Please (please,please) help me recover my letter.
