hector, on which the hotline notesfile resides, is running 7.2, and
for system packs it used /afs/athena/system/@sys/srvd.72 which in this
case meant the 'system.vax.srvd.72' volume...conveniently located
on Helen...which is down for maintenance. (Got that?...)
To make the hotline notesfile usable, I spun up the vssys pack from
thalia (which fortunately is a 7.2 pack), and mounted it on /srvd.
This makes it possible for people to use the hotline notesfile.
This should be considered a *temporary* fix because:
- if hecto crashes, the pack will have to be spunup and
mounted by hand after a reboot
- it the 7.2pack on thalia goes away, hector will lose again
Recommendation:
- Schedule hector for an update to 7.3 asap
Warning:
- Don't overwrite the vssys pack on thalia until after hector
updates to 7.3
Bottom line:
- Problem reported by Rita is temporarily fixed
