Hi,
I may still be having problems with the machine in the subject line
(ditto.mit.edu) that was worked on last week. It seemed to be having a hard
disk error on the swap device, and was remapped and reloaded. It came up
normally after the reload, and seemed fixed as of about 7 PM Friday. But I had
a problem today, when I attempted to read in a TK-50 tape on the internal tape
drive. The tar command appeared to run normally, and the tape began reading.
But it then appeared to become "hung" after reading about half the data that
should have been on the tape (about 85 Meg on tape, it read about 40). In the
Console window, I saw the message: ra0g: hard error sn1456. The time stamp on
the message was during the time the tar command was reading the tape.
