navigator in 11-115 has been experiencing problems with attach recently.
It seems that something happens in the process of detaching filesystems
(I don't know if this is when the workstation deactivates & detaches
filesystems or if it will also happen when a manual detach is done) such
that the filesystem is unmounted, but the mount point is left as an
empty directory. For instance, I've typed these commands right now:

~
navigator% attach
filesystem	       mountpoint	       user		 mode
----------	       ----------	       ----		 ----
m11staff-vssys	       /srvd		       root		 r
fmmoore		       /mit/fmmoore	       fmmoore		 w
sipb		       /mit/sipb	       fmmoore		 n
consult		       /mit/consult	       fmmoore		 n
marc		       /mit/marc	       fmmoore		 w
logos		       /mit/logos	       fmmoore		 w
sfburlat	       /mit/sfburlat	       fmmoore		 w
cref		       /mit/cref	       fmmoore		 w
shelene		       /mit/shelene	       fmmoore		 w
gnu		       /mit/gnu		       fmmoore		 r
~
navigator% ls /mit
1.00 consult	floorplans goddess	rar sipb
bitbucket cref	fmmoore logos	sfburlat thesis
chkwon	    eichin	gnu	    marc	shelene
~
navigator% ls -l /mit/thesis
total 0
~
navigator% ls -l /mit/1.00
total 0
~
navigator% ls -l /mit/rar
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root           32 May  7 21:33 /mit/rar -> /afs/athena.mit.edu/user/r/a/rar
~
navigator% ls -l /mit/floorplans
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root           45 May  7 21:27 /mit/floorplans -> /afs/athena.mit.edu/astaff/project/floorplans

It doesn't seem to happen with AFS filesystems the same way it does with
NFS filesystems.

Could someone check this out, please? Thanks!
