This is Kevin again, just wondering if you still need any more
specific information on the login problem. Just in case it might help,
this is the order of messages given in the upper right-hand box as an
attempt at logging in is completed:
Athena server (CVAXSTAR) Version 6.4R [date]
[info on the new release]
/etc/athena/xdm/Xsession: /usr/athena/lib/init/xsession: not found
ERROR:
Xsession returned to non-zero status
Select a "non-standard" session, then
select the SYSTEM option to ignore your
.xsession file

Earlier I told you I thought the new Release had been
incorporated, but from the first line here, it looks as though it's still
on the 6.4R. I'm not sure if the PUBLIC is switched to false or not.
I'm logged into athena via another machine, so if you have any further
questions or comments, I will return periodically to check olc.
